Warm Bones is a comic made for Read to Me, Sydney. Read to me is a bimonthly comic storytelling event hosted at Knox St Bar in Sydney where artists are invited to try new or old material infront of a warm and accepting audience. Stories range from 3 panel strip comics, to illustrated story slams, to experimental or stand up material.
At the beginning of the year, I had started working on my “Big ol Animated Film” loosely based my experiences growing up in the outer suburbs of a small town; getting into fights with strangers, breaking things and being around destructive bored teens.
Gabe Clarke asked me if I had something to show for the event. I jumped at the opportunity to have a deadline and make this little story to use as a sort of narrative and visual style guide for the larger film project.
I am greatly obsessed with the themes I touched on in this, and the film project to accompany this comic is in full swing.
